Easy French Bread

This is an easy bread to make that your family will love! Baked Fresh!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 packet or 2 tbsp. Yeast
  • 2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 1 egg – used for brushing the top of the bread before baking
  • 6 cups bread flour

1.First, in a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup warm water and yeast, let proof for 5 minutes.

2.In another clean bowl, combine hot water, salt, oil, granulated sugar and the bread flour. mix all together and once the yeast mixture is ready, add to mixture.

3.After all the ingredients are well combined, weigh dough if you have a weighing scale into 2 or 3 equal parts, roll each one into almost like a log or a jelly roll.

4.In a rectangular baking pan – line the pan with parchment paper before placing the dough.

5. Let dough proof/rest for about an hour (uncovered) – preferably in a warm place. I placed it in the oven and leave it there for an hour.

6. Preheat your oven at 375 degrees.

7.Cut top of the dough using a knife (if you want diagonal or criss cross)

8. Mix the egg in a small bowl and then brush top of the dough before baking. Bake it for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Enjoy it warm or toasted the following day!
